The Idaho Steelheads 20-9-3-0 defeated the Greensboro Gargoyles 7-16-5-1 on Wednesday night in downtown Boise by a score of 5-3.
Idaho forward Brendan Hoffmann got the scoring started at 10:46 with his league leading 17th of the season by slipping past the defense and going upstairs on Ruslan Khazheyev.
Idaho would take a 2-0 lead in this contest with Robbie Holmes 6th of the season about 4 minutes later from Hoffmann and Francesco Arcuri.
The Gargoyles would finally get on the board 6:04 into the middle frame as Logan Nelson scored his 5th goal of the year as he beat Jeff Baum to the net.
The Steelheads would make their lead 3-1 as Hoffmann scored his second of the game from Angus MacDonell and Jason Horvath. The play started as Horvath sent it down low to MacDonell who found Hoffmann in the slot for a one time blast.
Greensboro would than score two goals in a span of about four minutes as it was Ryan Richardson and Anthony Rinaldi scoring to tie the game in the third period. But just 13 seconds after Rinaldi tied the game Jade Miller put Idaho out in front again with a spectacular wrist shot upstairs on Khazheyev.
The Steelheads would finish off the scoring as Francesco Arcuri scored an empty netter from Jake Boltmann.
Idaho goaltender Ben Kraws picked up the win in between the crease with 37 saves on 40 shots.
